Fentanyl of various colours are present in the community based on reports from community partners.
OXFORD - A drug watch has been issued for our region from Southwestern Public Health.
Community partners have reported various colours of fentanyl have been found. An increased amount of deaths has caught the attention of the Office of the Chief Coroner.
The public health unit shares a few things to remember in case of an overdose:
- Call 911
- Give naloxone if an opioid overdose is suspected (it may take more than one dose)
- Do not leave the person unattended
- Stay with and assist the person until paramedics arrive
- The person should go to the hospital with the paramedics for further treatment, if possible
