The mass immunization clinics in the SWPH region will have reduced hours as the vaccination team hits the road with more pop-ups.
The Southwestern Public Health COVID-19 vaccination team is going on a road trip in March with more pop clinics across the region.
Right now they are focusing on people seeking booster doses and children aged 5-11. Chief Nursing Officer and Manage of the COVID-19 Vaccination effort Jaime Fletcher says they want to make it as easy as possible for people to get their vaccines.
"We have had a decline in appointments and walk-ins at our mass immunization clinics, and the weather is not favourable for travel. This is a good time to get back out to smaller communities to make getting a
booster or child vaccination easier."
Fletcher says the health unit has delivered over 308,000 vaccines since December 2020, including 36,680 doses outside of the three mass immunization clinics in St. Thomas, Woodstock and Tillsonburg.
"Our role at public health is to deliver services in a way that meets local needs. A lot of people in this region want to be vaccinated in a mobile or pop-up clinic, and we are ready to serve these individuals again."
Starting on March 1, the St. Thomas Memorial Auditorium and Woodstock Goff Hall locations will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays to accommodate staffing at pop-up clinics.
The full list of pop-up clinics is updated regularly at www.swpublichealth.ca/covid19vaccine#popup. Walk-ins are welcome.
