Southwestern Public Health is reporting an infant has passed away after having measles and other health complications.
SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO - Southwestern Public Health has delivered some tragic news.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore has said an infant, who was born prematurely and infected with measles has passed away in Southwestern Ontario. It is said the baby contracted the virus before birth from the mom, who did not receive the vaccine.
Dr. Moore says that while measles was a contributing factor in the premature birth and death, the infant was also dealing with other serious medical complication unrelated to the virus.
At this time, out of respect for the family and their privacy, no other information is being released.
