The goal is to have a community that's compassionate, engaged, healthy, active, safe, and sustainable with trusted elected officials that deliver value.
SWOX - The Township of South-West Oxford has announced the approval of its new Strategic Plan.
The council has approved its new Strategic Plan for the 2023 to 2026 term, which includes values and aspirations to address the priorities of the residents of South-West Oxford.
Mayor David Mayberry says the specifics didn't just come from council, but also largely from community feedback and involvement.
"The community told Council that they wanted a connected, compassionate, and engaged community that was healthy
and active. People want to feel safe and secure in a thriving and sustainable environment."
He says that, as a part of the plan, new vision and mission statements were developed based on the following strategic priority areas:
1. A connected, compassionate and engaged community.
2. A healthy and active community.
3. A safe and secure community.
4. A thriving and sustainable community.
5. A trusted Township and elected officials that deliver value.
With the latest plan, council also released a new vision statement for the community being; "A Welcoming, Safe, And Inclusive Rural Community For Life."
Community feedback primarily came when residents were invited to share their feedback through an online survey, and in-person at community consultation open house sessions held across the municipality.
The Township includes the communities of Beachville, Brownsville, Centreville, Culloden, Delmer, Dereham Centre, Foldens, Mount Elgin, Ostrander, Salford, Sweaburg and Verschoyle.
