Tourism Oxford is hosting two free workshops this month, which will include a workshop for farmers using storytelling to attract new visitors.
WOODSTOCK - Tourism Oxford will be holding two workshops in the community this month.
The first workshop will be on Community Event Emergency Response Planning, which will provide people with a strategy on how to manage a community event safely.
Tourism Specialist for Tourism Oxford Meredith Maywood says the first workshop will be beneficial for audiences.
"Anyone that is organizing a community event or a festival will benefit from coming to this workshop. So we're having Diane Marshall with the County of Oxford presenting, along with some other individuals involved in public health and safety, and they're going to be providing a checklist and talking about things that you can do at your event with regards to safety management."
The other workshop is called Farm Market: Storytelling and Selling and it encourages farmers to use storytelling to attract more visitors.
Maywood says the second workshop provides farmers and food vendors a great opportunity to learn how to market themselves to more people.
"It's a great opportunity to learn how you could be marketing yourself better, in advance of people coming to your location but also when they arrive. And how to engage with them, and tell them stories of what you've grown and what you've produced."
The workshops are setup to support businesses and organizations serving visitors in Oxford County.
Community Event Emergency Response Planning will be inside the Oxford Administration Building on February 19th from 7:00 to 8:30pm. Farm Market: Storytelling and Selling will take place at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs office on February 27th, going from 7:00 to 9:00pm.
If anyone is interested in registering for either workshop, they can visit www.oxfordcounty.ca/tourismpartners.
