Students from Woodstock, Norwich, Hickson and Salford will get to run their own business before they go back to school in the fall.
The Summer Company Program helps local students create their own summer business each year. Throughout the summer they will dedicate 35 hours a week to their company before they return to school in the fall.
Manager Ronda Stewart says each student should have extra money in their wallet when they complete the program.
"They each received $1,500 towards their start up. Upon completion of the program they will keep all of the money they earned in their summer business as well as another award for $1,500 to spend on whatever they like."
Some students will decide to continue running their business on a part time basis while they are back in school. Others may choose to quit the business altogether.
Stewart tells Heart FM those who participate in the Summer Company Program stand out to hiring employers.
"Students are entering the workplace without experience. They are going to school and they don't have practical hands on experience on their resume. I can tell you time and again we've heard positive success stories for our students who have gone and applied for work after they have done a Summer Company and because they had 'Business Owner' written on their resume they got a phone call and they had questions."
