Young, budding entrepreneurs could get a helping hand worth $3000 from the Summer Company Program
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council will once again support the Summer Company Program, which is operated by the Woodstock and Area Small Business Enterprise Centre.
According to Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch, with the city's support, the program will help young entrepreneurs learn what it takes to run a business.
"Now that we have the city endorsement behind it they're free to operate that program. It will help develop skills in small business and help mentor people along."
Those who are in the program could receive a grant for up to $3000 in order to start a small business of their own. To qualify you must be between the ages of 15 and 29, live in Ontario as a Canadian citizen, and be returning to school once the summer program ends. Those who already own a business or attend school or workplace for more than 12 hours a week over the summer are also not eligible. Lastly, you are not eligible if you have received a grant from the Summer Company Program in the past.
The Woodstock and Area Small Business Enterprise Centre has been running the program since 2002. Mayor Birtch believes this program has been very beneficial to the community.
"This is something that over the years has helped many young people discover the path they want to go down and know where they should be heading for their chosen profession, career, or trade."
