Emily Stowe comes through for Norwich Salvation Army
It should be a Merry Christmas for all the kids in Norwich.
The staff and students at Emily Stowe Public School have raised over $4000 to buy gifts for those in need. That's after setting out with a goal of $2500.
Teacher Amy Moulton says that works out to over $100 per child for the Norwich Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program. "So we purchased gifts for 25 angels...a variety of things, clothes and toys and certain things that they ask for. The Salvation Army gives us a list of things they're asking for."
Another Teacher at Emily Stowe Jessica Falkingham says it's also a special event for the teachers. "The teachers get really excited because they get to shop for the angels. They know some of the students at the school are the angels, so it makes it even more special because they are shopping for kids in their classroom."
The fundraising included donating Canadian Tire money, purchasing candy grams, and hosting a bazaar. Moulton says the students worked hard on the initiatives. "We have lots of kids working at the bazaar, they were able to help. They organized the candy grams and sold them everyday. They definitely get excited as well, that they can contribute."
