Woodstock's four day street festival returns for another fun filled year
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's downtown is about to welcome back a fantastic festival.
StreetFest will be closing down Dundas Street starting on Thursday. The annual celebration will run until Sunday as many local merchants will be moving outside and slashing their prices. Manager of the Downtown Woodstock BIA, Kelly Morrison, is excited to kick off another year. "It's into its 40 something year right now. Last count about 34 acts booked over the 4 days of the event, and we kick it off when the street is open at 9. We will have some wandering entertainment as well, and it just builds as we move along through the weekend."
Morrison says the festival really brings the city together. "It's to bring people downtown and enjoy the atmosphere here, we basically turn into a big street party. It is a free event and it is our main promotion for the downtown merchants, and we convert the square into an art park. Sunday of course is our wrap up day and we wrap it up in grand style with our Streetfest Cruise."
Dundas Street will be closed from Vansittart Avenue to Beale and Bay Street for the 4 day festival that runs from Thursday to Sunday. Morrison, is inviting everyone to the event especially those who have never attended. "You're in for a surprise! We're fortunate in the fact that we close Dundas Street for several blocks it is pretty amazing to see that transformation. From having Dundas Street turn into a sea of people and crowds and something going on literally every block, pretty much every genre you will be able to enjoy so come check it out."
