Amateur and aspiring meteorologists are invited to a free storm spotting information session in Innerkip hosted by Oxford County and Environment Canada's Geoff Coulson.
INNERKIP - Oxford County is bringing in a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist from Environment Canada for a free Storm Spotting session.
Geoff Coulson will be at the Innerkip Community Centre on Tuesday the 24th from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Community Emergency Manager Coordinator Diane Marshall explains what Coulson will be talking about in Innerkip.
"He will talk to us about severe weather patterns and how to watch for and understand when potential severe weather is in front of us so that we can be better prepared."
This session is beneficial to anyone who spends time outdoors, including athletic coaches, referees and umpires, camp counsellors, lifeguards, boaters and hikers. Marshall says they hope to see a decent crowd at the Community Centre.
"This session, really any member of the public would benefit from it but particularly officials looking after outdoor events such as baseball, soccer and other outdoor sports taking place in our communities this summer. It is also important for organizers of community festivals, basically anyone that does spend time outdoors and has a responsibility to ensure the safety of others."
