Perth County OPP handed out 74 tickets during their annual Stop and Look Campaign.
PERTH COUNTY - Perth County OPP handed out 74 tickets during their stop and look campaign.
All last week officers were stationed at local intersections that have had a high rate of collisions in the past. They were watching drivers to see if they made the proper stop or yield where required. Police handed out 74 stop sign violation charges during the campaign.
Inspector Rob Scott says they were actually a bit a surprised by the number of tickets they had to hand out.
“It was surprising to see such high number of charges for a driving action that should be second nature to all motorists. We need to take our stop sign controlled intersections seriously as they are the locations where our fatal and serious injury collisions occur. This campaign first originated in Perth County in 2011 and has been adopted throughout the Province. Locally we will continue to embrace it, and use it as one of our means to keep local roadways safe.”
