Stonegate Park is having a party this Saturday to celebrate their brand new playground equipment.
INNERKIP - A park in Innerkip has received a major facelift following a project to gear the play area to a much younger age group than most in the region. Head of the Stonegate Park Committee, Jennifer Gillespie, is inviting all families to a party in the park and explains why they should attend. "Just to celebrate the fact that we have this new play space that is available for our community to use. There are a few more things that will need to be completed as the summer moves on, but for the most part the work is done and ready to use. We're going to have children's entertainer Erick Traplin present, and parents can come and enjoy it as well."
It is out with the old and in with the new at the park where $30,000 has been spent on a playground to reduce the amount of empty space. Gillespie knows first hand how much work has gone into this park over the past few months. "We've removed the previous swing set, and tire swing and it has been replaced with new equipment that is geared towards 18 month to 6 year old children. There is a play structure with different slides on it, and some different play pieces that have been installed. We have also installed a paved pathway that goes through the park as well."
Gillespie is pleased with the quick turnaround time regarding the playground but knows more work needs to be done. "There is just a couple benches that are going to go in and just a couple of touch ups, and we will be all set. Last I checked with the township everything was on budget, if not under budget for our projections. Our park is being used on a daily basis by lots of families, it's great to see our updates being enjoyed." The party in the park is scheduled for Saturday July 25th from 10-4pm at Stonegate Park in Innerkip.
