The Ride Don't Hide fundraiser on June 26th will benefit the Canadian Mental Health Association of Oxford County.
WOODSTOCK - Cyclists will be taking over Woodstock on Sunday June 26th for the Ride Don't Hide fundraiser for CMHA Oxford.
Riders can choose between four different routes an km, 13km, 50km and there is also a new 100km route this year. Nationally the event is hoping to raise $6 million dollars in one day and locally they are hoping to raise $20,000. Executive Director of the CMHA Oxford Mike McMahon tells Heart FM they are hoping to raise awareness about mental health as well.
"This is a great topic for us to be focused on, at least once annually and that's why we think the program can pick up greater interest this year as people look for what they've experienced which is illness followed by recovery."
McMahon says they have already seen a spike in the amount of interest this year.
"Increase in our interest and registration in advance, we had 150 participants last year and a lot of people are returning and we have already hit over 60 percent of our fundraising goal even before we set foot on the bicycles."
Registration is $35 to participate and you can sign up on the day of at CMHA building on Peel Street or you can sign up online.
