The CEO for the Woodstock Public Library David Harvey has issued a message to patrons as the Library is forced to close it's doors for at least 3 weeks.

WOODSTOCK - The CEO for the Woodstock Public Library David Harvey has issued the following message to patrons:

Over the past week, Woodstock Public Library (WPL) has been working alongside our City partners to closely monitor developments and information about the coronavirus (COVID-19). Based on direction from the City, and care and concern for our staff, our customers and the public, we will be closing the Woodstock Public Library to the public effective today, Sunday March 15 at 5:00 p.m.

We will reopen the Library on Monday, April 6. All library programs, events and room rentals will be cancelled. We will continue to monitor the situation and evaluate whether this date will need to be extended.

I want to assure you that we have not taken this decision lightly. Ensuring the health and well-being of our communities, and the safety of our customers and staff is – and always must be – our top priority.

During this temporary closure, we are taking several steps to support you as much as possible:

- If you have books currently on loan, please hold onto them. Due dates for all items will be reset to April 16 so that they won’t incur late fees during this time. As well, any outstanding library fines will not accumulate while the Library is closed.

- If you have holds, they will be waiting for you when the Library reopens.

- All of our online resources will still be available, 24/7 and can be accessed remotely using your library card. Visit mywpl.ca to download e-books, e-audiobooks, and magazines, stream movies and music and use our online resources.

- If you have a question, please call the Library at 519-539-4801 during normal office hours Monday to Friday.

As you know, this is a constantly and rapidly evolving situation. We will continue to work closely with City and health officials, and are committed to keeping you up-to-date as things evolve and change. In the meantime, we encourage you to stay informed about COVID-19 by referring to credible sources of information.
