The Optimist Club of Downie and Perth County OPP are teaming up to host a bike rodeo on May 28th.
ST MARY'S - Perth County OPP are teaming up with the Optimist Club of Downie for a Bike Rodeo and Safety Day.
Kids are invited to the St. Mary's Pyramid Centre this Saturday 10 am to 12 pm. All you need to bring is your bike and your helmet and the officers will teach you safety tips and the rules of the road. Constable Kees Wyland tells Heart FM they will have an challenging course set up for you to take part in.
"We have a lot stations set up as part of the course, so children actually go through the course, we have kids going through on their training wheels, regular bikes and even some tricycles go through. They go through the course that has numerous stations that check for their ability to control their bicycle, they are taught how to signal and sign when coming to intersections, do the proper shoulder check and the proper way to cross the road."
Kids will also get to munch on some free hot dogs, drinks and snacks and there will be draws to win new bikes and other prizes.
