The newly improved and more accessible Southside Aquatics Centre is now open!
WOODSTOCK - The Southside Aquatics Centre is back up and running after a million dollar renovation over the summer.
Supervisor of Aquatics and Recreation Programs Patrick King tells Heart FM they wanted to improve the life span of the pool.
"We did a complete redo of the filtration system, the deck and the pool basin, so it gives us 20 years of comfort at the Aquatics Centre."
King says they have also made the pool more accessible by adding a ramp. The pool was built in 1974 and was in need of the renovations. King says they will also be introducing some new programs for the fall.
"We are going to continue to add some more adult programs, some fitness based programs, swim fitness based programs like aqua fit and our learn to swim program for adults, we are going to continue to grow those as well."
King says they also have plenty of new children's programming coming this year.
To celebrate the reopening, the Southside Aquatic Centre is hosting a free swim on October 8th from 1:35 p.m. until 3 p.m.
