Southgate Centre is celebrating another successful 12 Days of Christmas Lottery, after $26,000 was raised for the seniors centre.
That's a wrap on another year for the Southgate Centre 12 Days of Christmas Lottery.
Executive Director Chris Cunningham has totalled up the money raised for the centre - over $26,000. She says they are thrilled with the amount of people who came out to join in on the fun this year.
"That was our goal - it was to be a win-win, not all just for Southgate Centre. We wanted the community to win, and they have; we've given away $16,600 in total from this lottery, so that's a lot of happy people."
That $26,000 will be supporting the operating costs of Southgate.
The grand prize winner of $10,000 is Mary Hornyak of Woodstock, who won her ticket right here on 104.7 Heart FM.
Hornyak was very surprised when she heard the good news.
"A friend of mine called to tell me because I was at work and I didn't hear it on the radio which I listen to the radio every morning. So that's when I went on the Southgate Centre website and there was my name at the bottom for $10,000 and I am still having a hard time processing it even though I do have the cheque now."
Hornyak says she plans on using her winnings to pay some bills and have some fun in 2017.
