The Thamesford Lions Club is hoping to build a new pavilion at the Splash Pad in Thamesford.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - The Thamesford Lions Club is hoping to build a new pavilion at the Splash Pad in Thamesford.
The Pavilion would be located at South Lions Park. Mayor Marcus Ryan says they have asked council for help.
"So the Lions have once again come up with a great initiative. Zorra Township, with the initiative of Thamesford residents primarily put in a splash pad at the South Park two years ago and now the Thamesford Lions said, it would be really nice to celebrate the anniversary of Lions in Ontario and Canada this year with a new Pavilion."
The Pavilion would allow parents, grandparents to sit in the shade, have some lunch while their kids play at the park and at the splash pad. Ryan says it's a great idea.
"The Lions have asked some support from the township, both in terms of doing the work and financial support for that to happen. Council was very happy to be able to receive the initiative and directed staff to be able to bring back a report on how this could happen, in terms of the permitting and fundraising and what the whole project would cost. The Lions have made a tremendous commitment personally to fundraise, because they are trying to do this without going out to the community during this time of COVID and ask for money, so a lot of Lions have personally stepped up to fund this."
Zorra Township will be having another meeting on June 17th, they will be meeting in person.
