The agreement provides the different cities, townships and counties involved information right at their finger tips to make decisions and comment on request for development.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Source Water Protection Database Collaboration Agreement was recently updated by Oxford County council.
Warden Larry Martin says it is a data bank that allows 14 different municipalities to collect and have access to information.
"What it is is a collection of data that a group of municipalities, that's been led by Upper Thames Conservation Authority to collect data that they use for, and sharing of data, that they would use for developmental purposes and commenting on circulation for development in the area. And there's about 14 different partners that are involved with this and they all enter their data into this program, and they all have access to this data. It's long-term and a good database in order to which to base decisions for development."
The agreement was last updated four years ago.
Warden Martin says the objective of the agreement is to make sure information is accessible for the municipalities involved.
"The objective is to have the information right at your fingertips for these different cities, townships and counties and there's two conservation authorities involved as well, it's the Upper Thames and the Grand River Conservation Authority. When there's circulation for development, if a new development comes along, all of the areas, there's police, the fire department and the conservation authorities, they're all circulated for comment and the data that is stored in this storage bin, for a lack of better terminology. They use that as information to base their decision on when commenting on a request for development."
