As construction continues on the new Beachville Fire Station, South-West Oxford township council has to decide when to install the solar panels.
BEACHVILLE - Township Council in South-West Oxford has to decide if they want to install solar panels now or later.
Construction is underway on the new Beachville Fire Station.
Mayor David Mayberry thinks council will decide to delay the installation at their meeting this morning.
"I think probably council will accept the recommendation from the building official to wait until the building is complete. When the building is finished they will install the panels on top of the roof."
The building should be complete before December of this year.
A net metering program will also be installed, so the solar panels will generate power for other buildings in the community as well.
Mayberry says green energy is the goal.
"I'm pleased to see council say we understand going forward more and more building will become net metered and each building will in fact end up generating the amount of energy it requires to be self sustaining."
The Township has not received an official quote yet, but Mayberry thinks the installation will cost no more than $50,000.
