Heavy rain on Friday and Saturday could put an end to any White Christmas hopes in Oxford County this year.
WOODSTOCK - It looks a storm brewing in Texas could put a big damper on any dreams of a White Christmas this year.
Environment Canada is expecting the region to get hit with plenty of rain starting on Friday night and continuing into Saturday morning. Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says this will likely mean a green Christmas.
"So the possibility of a white Christmas looks like it is going to be tied to a big system coming out of Texas, forecast to move into the area on Friday, in particular right now, our forecast models right now are indicating a fair amount of rain to fall Friday night into Saturday morning. In checking the latest observations from in and around Woodstock, we have about 10 to 12 centimetres on the ground right now, but again the rain this weekend could take care of a lot of that."
Coulson says it's possible things could change between now and Friday.
"There is still a chance but right now, the track this system has taken has been fairly consistent and the track it has taken has taken it is through Lake Michigan and leaves us on the warm side of this system. It looks like at this point in time, the folks who are going to get snow from it are in North Eastern Ontario and the areas north of Lake Superior."
