City snow plows will be hitting the streets in full force Friday morning. In anticipation of a snowfall of 15-25cms, city crews will get an early start on clearing the streets. City Engineer Harold DeHaan says the priority for the morning will be the main roads. "Our standard is to clear all the roads in the city within 24-36 hours after the snow event has stopped. During the actual event, we'll concentrate on the main routes as they need it. And then once it's done, we give ourselves 24-36 hours to clear off the rest of the roads." The city has a dozen snow removal machines on standby for the storm. The snow should start to fly sometime after 9PM in Woodstock, and may be at its worst during the Friday morning commute, which presents challenges for the plows. DeHaan says, "It obviously hinders us, it's a lot easier to plow when there are no cars on the road."
