Six Olympic Medals for Team Canada So Far

Team Canada has won six medals at the Beijing Olympics so far; one gold, one silver and four bronze.

BEIJING - Max Parrot has won Team Canada's first gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

He won the men's snowboard slopestyle competition earlier today. His teammate Mark McMorris was not far behind him, winning the bronze medal.

Kim Boutin also won the bronze medal in the women's 500 metre short track speed skating event this morning and Team Canada has just won bronze in the mixed team ski jumping event.

Team Canada secured two other medals over the weekend. Mikael Kingsbury won silver in the men's moguls for freestyle skiing and Isabelle Weidemann won bronze in the women's 3,000 metre speed skating event.

When you break it down, Team Canada has won six medals at the Olympics so far; one gold, one silver and four bronze.

It was also a very good weekend for Oxford County's Ella Shelton and the rest of the Canadian women's hockey team. They beat Switzerland 12-1 on Thursday, crushed Finland 11-1 on Saturday and celebrated a 6-1 win over Russia earlier today.

They're going to face the United States on Tuesday. That game should get started at about 12:10 p.m. Beijing time, but it works out to 11:10 p.m. tonight when you convert it to Eastern Time.
