Michael Landsberg encourages people to "Listen to the message, smile, and look at the future, not the past."
WOODSTOCK - #SickNotWeak founder and TSN personality Michael Landsberg is coming to Woodstock to share his message of hope.
Landsberg has worked at TSN since its inception and is probably best known for his show Off the Record. He has been a champion for mental health ever since openly discussing his lifelong battle with depression and anxiety back in 2009. Landsberg tells Heart FM he has been following what is happening in Woodstock and wanted to do something to help.
"I wanted to do something to help, never believing that I could do anything more than just a little bit. I just wanted to bring a little joy and a little hope to the people who have lived in this vacuum where all of the joy has been sucked out of it; so that is my goal on Thursday night to bring hope and joy."
Landsberg says one thing he wants to convey to people is that mental health is an illness like many others.
"It's a physical illness of the brain and if people believe that they will go for help, because bottom line is, when you suffer, when you're in pain, when you're really desperate to feel better, if it's a physical pain, if you have an appendix attack, when you have a kidney stone, you're not going to suck it up and not tell anyone because of shame but with mental health that's what we do."
Landsberg tells Heart FM what he hopes people will take away from his talk on Thursday night.
"Open up your minds, open up your heart, and open up your soul. Listen to the message, smile, and look at the future, not the past. Look at the future with hope and also come and say hey Landsberg nice to meet you."
Tickets to the show are free and Landsberg did not ask for a single penny to come to Woodstock.
You can find out how to get your advance seat online. Doors open at 7:00 pm at the Woodstock Community Complex.
