Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire Southwestern Ontario region.
UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm watch for the region has been upgraded to a warning as Environment Canada warns of an imminent severe thunderstorm.
Original Story:
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the entire region including Oxford County.
Environment Canada issued the watch this morning. They say the conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong winds and heavy rain.
A cold front is expected to sweep through Southern Ontario this afternoon bringing showers and a few thunderstorms along with it. It's possible some of these thunderstorms will be severe and could even bring with them wind gusts reaching 90 km/hr.
Hail is also possible today in some regions and Environment Canada is reminding everyone when the thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
UPDATE: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has ended.
