The next septic smart Oxford workshop will be held at the Colombo Club in Beachville on June 14th.
BEACHVILLE - Oxford County Public Health is doing a county wide public education campaign to to help homeowners properly operate and maintain their septic systems.
The next septic smart Oxford workshop will be held at the Colombo Club in Beachville on June 14th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Manager of Health Protection with Oxford County Public Health Peter Haywood tells Heart FM what they will be talking about at the Beachville session.
"It will really focus on how a septic system works, on how locate their septic system on their property, identify the importance of pumping on their tank on a regular basis and helping them to work through various problems they may encounter while working on their septic system."
Haywood says SepticSmart Oxford will offer free workshops and house calls conducted by qualified sewage inspectors.
"We are going to holding free workshops during the Spring and Fall and those workshops will inform people around the operation and maintenance of their septic system. We will also offer house calls, so if people have questions related to their septic system, we are more than happy to visit their homes to provide them with some information and advice."
He adds every septic system requires maintenance.
"Maintenance is so important in the life expectancy of the septic system, so it is really important to do annual maintenance on it, similar to what you do with your car or your house."
