Donations kept pouring in all day as the 2nd annual Give Thanks to Hospital Radiothon on heart FM raised a whopping $38,300.
WOODSTOCK - The 2nd annual Give Thanks to your Hospital Radiothon on Heart FM raised a whopping $38,300 this year.
All of the money raised yesterday will go towards the maternal child unit. Senior Development Officer Jocelyn Jenner says they are extremely grateful.
"So just a huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported. We had so many community members who came out and call in yesterday and made amazing donations and we are just so grateful we were able to raise money for the maternal child unit."
Jenner says that money will be put to good use.
"We are going to be purchasing some new equipment. We have some wireless fetal monitors which everyone is really excited about because it means mothers will be able to move while they are in labour. We have got blanket warmers which I think the nurses are excited about, they can have it right in the room so having warm blankets for mom and babies."
She goes on to explain why the hospital relies on fundraiser's like the Radiothon.
"So most of the community doesn't realize that we don't get government funding for our equipment. So we rely on donations from businesses and individuals to support us and that is how we are able to purchase state of the art equipment for the hospital."
Donations kept pouring in yesterday as the radio station continued to play heartfelt testimonials over the air.
