The Salvation Army Care and Share Program is even more critical this year with the loss of major collection events in the Holiday Train and the Santa Claus Parade.
WOODSTOCK - The Salvation Army Care and Share program is in full swing.
Community Ministries Coordinator Noel Stern says they have teamed up with local businesses who are collecting non perishable food items and toys.
"The Care and Share program has been one of our donation programs for Christmas, the past number of years. Different businesses in the area have taken a box or a barrel for us and have been collecting non perishable food items or toys for children between the ages of 0-14."
Stern says the care and share program is even more crucial this year.
"With the loss of our major collection events, such as the Holiday Train and the Christmas Parade, we needed to expand it. So this year we have gone to a few more businesses and asked them to be a partner with us this year. The business community has really stepped up, a number of businesses have come on board with us, some unsolicited after following us on social media."
You can find a list of businesses taking part in the Care and Share program on the Salvation Army Woodstock Facebook Page. Local businesses can also still take part and grab a barrel from the Salvation Army.
