A fatal accident has brought about a call for change. A concerned resident has created a petition asking Norwich Council to look at more safety precautions at the intersection of Cornell and Furnace Roads.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - Heavy hearts and dealing with loss has brought about the call for change.
A fatal accident on Cornell Road and Furnace Road in Norwich Township is the reason a petition has been made, calling for more precautions at the intersection.
Heather Hillen is the creator of the petition and wants to see digital speed signs, stop signs, and a caution light put up on Cornell Road heading east bound towards Furnace Road.
Hillen says that being able to possibly prevent another fatal accident is the goal.
"We want to, in their memory make sure it doesn't happen to any other family, to any other teenager, to any other infant, to anybody walking to the damage that has been happening all over people's property there. It is all on record."
She adds that a group of 10 people will be going to a Norwich Township Council meeting in the future with the number of signatures to present a delegation for the changes they want to see.
"We just need a speaker, who will be articulate and make it known to Council that our whole focus it to not have another parent feel the way these parents feel."
The delegation will be on Tuesday, September 12th at 9 a.m., while a memorial gathering for the victims will be on Saturday, September 16th at 1 p.m.
Hillen says that she, along with her husband took the time to drive through the intersection and take a video, which shows where the changes should go and how they would help potentially save lives.
If you would like to show your support you can sign the petition.
