Running with the Bulls supports local families dealing with financial stress following a cancer diagnosis.
TILLSONBURG - You'll be able to run with the Bulls in Tillsonburg, but it's not what you're thinking.
Lots of people will hit up the Trans Canada Trail on Saturday July 20th to support local families dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Organizer Tamara Bull says the money raised will help those families deal with financial stress.
"It might be something as small as little Johnny can't play soccer because all of the money has to go towards his Mom or Dad's cancer treatment. For this family to have some kind of normalcy, I want little Johnny to be able to play soccer."
Bull says you'll have three routes to choose from.
"The first race is at 8:00 a.m. and it's a 10K. So we have a 10K run or you can also do a 5K run or walk. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. and there's a free 1K kiddie trot that starts at 10:00 a.m."
The run will begin close to Tillson Ave and it will take everyone out on the trail and back. It costs $65 to register, which you can do online here. Race kits will be available at Indigo Lounge Wellness and Eatery in Tillsonburg.
Bull decided to start this fundraiser, after her 28-year-old son Nathan was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year. He was told that he had to seek expensive treatment in the United States, so the community stepped in to help and thousands of dollars were raised through a GoFundMe page.
Families in need can apply to receive funds through Running with the Bulls online here, and Bull says the money will be distributed within the year.
