South Norwich resident running for Ward 1 councillor
NORWICH - South Norwich resident Roy King is looking for a spot on Norwich council.
The former truck driver and current employee of SAF Holland filed papers for the Ward 1 position last month.
King says he has considerable knowledge of the community and believes he has the time and dedication to make a positive change.
"I've been an active member in the community for 45 years and I've heard a lot of stuff about the people that are looking for the counselling and I think I could be the new voice of the community and help improve the quality of life for the residents. Hardworking, determined, fair -- I will listen to the people and I will represent them to the best of my ability."
"I've coached minor ball, I've umpired, I'm on the Optimist for 20 years -- like I said, I've been president of the South Oxford softball league, I've done a lot."
King says many residents are worried with the number of break and enters occurring in Norwich.
"I think we need a change in policing, definitely and we need some better changing for the seniors in the community. There's nothing for seniors, especially in housing and for senior services there's nothing."
King is one of three names currently on the ballot for the Ward 1 position.
