John Robinson took to the stand Monday afternoon at the Oxford County Courthouse. He described Clifford Fair as nothing more than an acquaintance. Robinson told the court that he had knowledge that girlfriend Amy Gilbert had a previous sexual encounter with Fair. He said he was in jail between July 24th and September 4th because of a breach of probation charge. Part of the conditions of an earlier arrest was he was to stay away from Gilbert. Following his release Robinson claimed Gilbert was more argumentative, was hearing voices and seeing pictures in her head. The court heard that Robinson was getting money from Ontarioworks, but obtained a job at a temp agency and became a cleaner at Toyota. Robinson described a typical day of making lunch, going to work, coming home changing, then heading to the beer store. On the day in question Robinson claims he purchases a 2-4 and a 12 pack for the night. He said he expected to be alone with Gilbert and wasn't expecting visitors when he heard a knock at the door. When he opened the door he saw Clifford Fair standing there, Gilbert mentioned something about money before inviting Fair inside for a beer. Robinson told the court he was a little on edge because he wanted to be alone with Gilbert but he wasn't mad that Fair came over. He said this was the first time to his knowledge that Fair had been to the house. The jury was dismissed for the day and legal arguments ended the day. The trial continues tomorrow.
