The OPP is responding to multiple collisions this morning, thankfully no major injuries have been reported during the snow event.
OPP responding to several collisions this morning as Ontario continues to dig out of the heavy snow.
OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk says the good news, is they have not had any reports of serious injuries.
"Highway 401 and 402 are down to one or two lanes right now, as the roads are covered in snow, the fast lane right now is snow covered. I have seen the plows out, so let's give our snow plow operators some room and make sure to give our transport truck operators room to stop as well. I have seen several vehicles attempting to cut in front of transport trucks, unfortunately these big rigs, they can't stop on a dime, especially if they are loaded."
Roads are awful right now, snow covered and the drive is treacherous. Police are asking everyone to stay home if you don't need to venture out.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says a lot of people are working hard to keep everyone safe this morning.
"I want to thank all of call takers and dispatchers for everything they are doing for us, all of our officers on the road, tow truck operators, everyone who is out here helping us right now. Everyone who is driving, please just do me this favour, from the OPP family and the Sanchuk family, please make sure you get to where you need to get going but more importantly that you get there safely."
Make sure to clean off all the snow from your vehicle, put the phone down, drive the conditions, give plenty of space between yourself and other vehicles and do not try to pass anyone right now.
