Ring Out For Peace In Ingersoll

Don't be alarmed if you hear several bells ringing in Ingersoll on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.

INGERSOLL - Residents in Ingersoll are invited to ring bells across the town Sunday morning to commemorate the news of the Great War was over.

November 11, 2018 at 9:00 a.m marks the 100 year anniversary of WW1 finally being over and the Canadian soldiers who fought and continue to fight. The Town of Ingersoll is encouraged to ring out the bells of church steeples, school bells, cow bells, dinner bells, bicycle bells and car alarms just like they did 100 years ago when the war was over. 

Scott Gillies is the Curator at the Ingersoll Cheese & Agricultural Museum and is leading Ring Out For Peace and says that the whole town should get involved.

"We are encouraging people to get out and ring their bells around town for about 5 minutes if possible and while your doing that think about the lives of the men and women that lost their lives."

Gillies also added.

"The other target point of this is to reenact what it was like 100 years ago with all the bells and whistles that went off when the word got out. But mostly to honour those that lost their lives."

Ingersoll will then have their Remembrance Day ceremony start at 10:30 am on Sunday following the Ring Out for Peace at the Cenotaph downtown. 

You can also join the Final Campaign to grave-mark and tour the veterans last resting place at the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
