While the number of impaired drivers was down in 2013, police say even one is one too many.
8 people were arrested in Oxford County for impaired driving during the OPP's annual Festive RIDE programs.
4 other people were issued warn range licence suspensions during the program which ran November 23rd to January 2nd. Thousands of vehicles were checked as local OPP conducted 115 different RIDE checks.
Oxford OPP Inspector Tim Clark says, “My officers will continue into 2014 to reduce the number of drivers who operate a motor vehicle impaired on our area roads and trails. Ultimately we would like to see that number reduced to zero.”
Province-wide, 578 impaired charges were laid, down from 693 the year before.
