All of the proceeds will support the Oxford County Animal Rescue.
WOODSTOCK - Lots of people are starting to get their motorcycles out and running, now that we're starting to experience the warmer summer weather.
A lot of them will be heading to Port Dover this Friday for Friday the 13th, but lots of them will also be participating in the Ride for Rescue Poker Run for the Oxford County Animal Rescue on Sunday June 22nd.
Foster Coordinator Anna Holmes says registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at Woodstock Legion Branch 55.
"The riders come, register and meet at the Legion here in Woodstock. They travel a mapped route out to Port Burwell, along the lake to Port Rowan and then over to Norwich before they come back to Woodstock for lunch, prizes and all sorts of goodies."
She says the riders will leave at 10:00 a.m. and follow the designated route that will eventually take them back to the Legion for 2:00 p.m.
"There is a stop at reach village we have chosen and they will receive a poker card. So at the end of the five stops, they will have five cards, so whoever has the best poker hand wins a prize!"
It costs $20 for a single rider to register or $25 if you have a passenger with you. All of the proceeds raised will support the Oxford County Animal Rescue's efforts when it comes to vetting and rehabilitating cats, kittens dogs, and puppies that have been surrendered, abandoned, abused or neglected.
Those interested in pre-registering for the Ride for Rescue Poker Run can e-mail Holmes at anna@oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com.
