A portion of Riddell Street will be getting revamped starting in May.
WOODSTOCK - Major changes are on the way for Riddell St. in the city beginning this spring. The project is leaving Deputy City Engineer Doug Ellis with a large undertaking but it will be beneficial to residents that live along that stretch of roadway. "Riddell Street is probably going to start mid-May and we are going to work from Ingersoll Ave. to Devonshire Ave.. We are looking at redoing the sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, some sidewalk and curb work, and a road rebuild."
Ellis has responded to the many complaints and knows the streets in the city that need to be redone. "Like most roads in Woodstock some are in very poor shape, this was on the 5 year plan and this was just the time it needed to be done. It should make a great improvement, we always get complaints with new and improved roads that people speed faster when there is no potholes, but it will be better to drive on it."
Ellis stated that this project will take months and cost a substantial amount of money. "The cost is approxiamtely $930,000 and that is including the HST it was approved this year in the 2015 capital budget."
There is no date of completion set but Ellis believes that this will make a great improvement in the city.
