The fall edition of Reuseapaloozaha returns to the Embro Community Centre on Saturday September 28th.
EMBRO - It brings a whole new meaning to the term; one man's trash is another man's treasure.
Reuseapaloozaha will take place at the Embro Community Centre on Saturday September 28th. Everything should get started at 8:00 a.m. and the last call for item drop-off will be at 11:00 a.m. before the event ends at 12:00 p.m.
The giant swap meet takes place twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. It's an event where you can bring in items that you don't want anymore and bring home something else. Some of the accepted items include books, clothing, kid's toys, and furniture as long as it's not upholstered.
Organizer Bryan Smith says people should not bring literal trash to this event.
"It's for things that you know somebody else could use but maybe you're done using it. We don't want to see hazardous waste or, as we say on our poster, anything disgusting!"
The list of unaccepted also includes residential garbage, car seats, and helmets.
Reuseapaloozaha also has a new partnership with Victoria's Quilts this year. Smith says they're a group of volunteers who make quilts for cancer patients.
"These are people who are buying fabric and spending all of this labour in aid of others. At Reuseapaloozaha, we sometimes see bolts of fabric and pre-cut squares for quilts, and so I thought who better to get them than the Victoria Quilts people!"
Victoria's Quilts will not only have access to these supplies at the event, but they will also have a booth set up so those who attend can learn more about what they do.
You can find more information about Reuseapaloozaha online here. The date has also been set for the next event, which will be in Sweatburg on Saturday April 26th.
Bryan Smith called the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday September 18th. You can listen to the full interview below:
