Reuseapaloozaha will takeover the Embro-Zorra Community Centre and the Mount Elgin Community Centre next month.
EMBRO/MOUNT ELGIN - It's the biggest and most popular swap meet in all of Oxford County.
Reuseapaloozaha will takeover the Embro-Zorra Community Centre on Saturday, September 6th and the Mount Elgin Community Centre on Saturday, September 27th.
Both events will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., but Organizer Bryan Smith says you can't bring in new items after 11:00 a.m.
"We want to have time between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for people to have a look at things and taken them home as well. We don't want a tractor trailer load of things arriving at 11:59 a.m. just in time for us to load it into something else to go somewhere else."
All of the leftover items will be donated to ThriftCo in Ingersoll, so please don't bring any garbage or hazardous waste. You also can't bring upholstered furniture, bike helmets, or car seats. The money raised through ThriftCo supports the Sycamore Centre, which operates as a day space area for the homeless individuals to get off the street and seek counselling.
Representatives from Canadian Economic Assistance South Sudan will also be on site at both events. They will be collecting items for a shipping container that will be sent overseas to help families in need.
Smith says they will also have information booths set up for the Ontario Nurses Association and Hearts for Ethiopia, so those who attend can learn more.
It's free to participate in Reuseapaloozaha, and you can find more information online here.
Bryan Smith stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Monday August 25th. You can listen to the full interview below:
