Starting today, those flying in from China, Hong Kong, or Macau will have to test negative for COVID-19 if they want to enter Canada.
CANADA - Airline passengers coming from China, Hong Kong, and Macau now have to provide a negative COVID-19 test if they want to enter Canada.
This applies to all travellers over the age of two and the negative test must be provided within 48 hours of their scheduled departure.
Ottawa announced the temporary travel restriction last week due to the soaring number of COVID-19 cases in China. The United States and several European nations have also imposed the testing requirement.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry has accused some countries of attempting to manipulate COVID measures for political purposes and also stated that Beijing will take countermeasures.
