Habitat for Humanity's ReStore is teaming up with PropertyGuys.com to help bring your unwanted items to people who could really use them.
WOODSTOCK - One man's trash is another man's treasure.
That's the main message behind the Spring Clean program. The program is a joint effort between PropertyGuys.com and the ReStore.
The ReStore accepts all kinds of housing items that homeowners may have laying around - from building materials and plumbing supplies, to electrical and light fixtures, and even furniture and roofing materials. ReStore then takes these items, which might otherwise have ended up in a landfill, and finds good, appreciative homes. Manager of the Woodstock and Stratford ReStores Barb Ransome says "The ReStore is fun spot because you never know what you're going to find."
To help with this effort PropertyGuys.com of Woodstock and London is offering to stop by and pick up some of those household items you no longer need, and drop them off at the ReStore. Ransome says this effort means a lot to the ReStore. "This will hopefully mean more incoming goods. Which in turn means more items in the store to sell, which helps people doing renovation projects, and renovations to their homes. Items for them to purchase at 50% or less off retail. And it diverts items from the landfill."
According to Habitat for Humanity they've been able to save around 160 000 tons from ending up in the landfill.
The profit from the ReStore goes to cover costs for Habitat, including overhead and wages so donations made to the organization can go straight to the projects.
Ransome also mentioned that projects in Woodstock are back on track.
To arrange for pick up from the Woodstock Property Guys call them after April 13 to set up an appointment.
