A proposed marijuana facility in Blandford-Blenheim has been scrapped by Health Canada.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - A proposed medical marijuana facility for Blandford-Blenheim has been stamped out by Health Canada.
The company Canadian Medical Marijuana Center applied for a licence to grow medical marijuana and sell it to registered Health Canada MMPR clients back in February of 2014.
CMMC President Andrew Burns said a month ago he received notice that his application had been rejected, "it needed further upgrades in the quality assurance department so the file has been closed by Health Canada."
Burns plans on reapplying once a ruling has been made surrounding an injunction by the Federal Court of Appeal exempting medical patients from new rules that would make it illegal for them to grow their own medical marijuana.
Thousands of applications have been filed to Health Canada for licences to commercially grow medical marijuana. The injunction has resulted in a backlog. There are only 15 federally licenced marijuana commercial producers.
