362 Woodstonians came out to support this year's Relay for Life and raise $141,000.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock came out in force to show their support for those living with cancer at the Relay for Life.
Fundraising Specialist for the Oxford Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society Liz Wismer-Van Meer says year after year people continue to come back to lend a hand.
"We had a great turnout - 33 teams in total and right now we are sitting at about $141,000 raised and we do still have some dollars that are coming in."
362 participants took to the track this year, with 84 of those people registered as survivors.
"We had a lot of yellow shirts on the track which can be bittersweet. It's hard to see that many people that have lived with cancer, or are living with cancer but it also goes to show that the dollars we're raising and the research we're funding is doing something and it's creating more survivors."
Wismer-Van Meer says this year's community champion Kay-Lynn Stevens made a speech full of live, love, and hop.
"Even though in her speech she said, I can't say that I'm cancer free, she's very optimistic that one day she will be able to say that. And it's very inspiring to hear somebody at that age being so positive and full of energy and inspiring others who are living through caner to keep that positive and optimistic attitude."
