People are encouraged to think outside the box as they raise funds over the summer to support VON Sakura House
WOODSTOCK - Fundraising has officially started for the 15th anniversary of Hike for Hospice.
The hike in Roth Park will be happening on September 23rd, but Fund Development Coordinator for VON Oxford Michelle Horwood hopes the balmy summer months will help fundraising efforts.
"We want to give everyone a chance to fundraise through the summer and get their families and friends involved - hold those barbeques and garage sales or whatever other fundraising that they want to do - just give them ample time to do that."
This is one of the biggest fundraisers for our local hospice. Horwood says it literally helps keep the lights on.
"Hike for Hospice helps us fund the essential operation cost for Sakura House. So it really just ensures the patients and families who use the services of the hospice - they're free and no charge to anyone at all."
