The tenth annual Rec and Leisure Show has something for everyone
It's your one stop shop to learn about activities, sports and leisure activities in Woodstock.
The tenth annual Rec and Leisure Fair is set for Sunday.
Chair of the City's Recreation Advisory Committee Mark Schadenberg says there is a large cross section of sport organizations that will be on hand.
"The Woodstock Cycling Club is going to be there, the Woodstock Badminton Club, even lawn bowling for the summer time. I know the Woodstock Minor Ball Association always has registrations at Cowen Park, Minor Soccer of course will have a booth. So a lot of sports groups whether it be football, basketball or any kind of sport you'd want to join. A lot of the dance groups too, which dance group do I join? Well here's your chance to talk to two or three teachers before you decide which dance group you want your children to sign up for."
Schadenberg says the Fair also includes some rare clubs you may not even think exist in Oxford County.
"For example the fact that there's a remote airplane club, or a stamp collecting club or some of these other organizations that certainly do exist so there's a place for everybody. Maybe you are looking for a brand new hobby, you never know what it is, there's so many things to take a look at here."
Schadenberg says service clubs will also be on hand.
"They're always looking for someone who is willing to volunteer and give their time back to the community. Here's your opportunity to possibly join a service club. I always think about Theatre Woodstock. Some of these cases, here's your opportunity to buy tickets, or find out about season ticket packages and other things just to be involved in the community. They need set builders and they need everything so it's a real cross section on how to get involved in the community."
The free event goes Sunday from 1-4pm at Cowen Park.
