Local realtors and their families braved the rain last week to collect 26,000 pounds of food for local Salvation Armies.
WOODSTOCK - The 10th annual REALTORS® Care Food Drive wrapped up last week with new routes added in Beachville, Embro and Innerkip for their local Salvation Army food banks.
A total of 118 volunteers plus their families, 72 of those volunteers were local REALTORS®, who covered approximately 95 percent of all routes on September 22nd.
WIDREB 2021 President, Alison Porter comments on the appreciation they have for all the people who came and volunteered for this event.
"The weather was awful last Wednesday, but that didn't stop our volunteers or our community partners who donated. I am very proud of our members and the support they give to this amazing event, which continues to be a great success every year. We want our communities to know that your local REALTORS® are not just real estate representatives, but friends and neighbours who care about our communities.I would also like to take the time to personally thank our REALTORS® Care Committee for all their hard work and dedication that they put towards creating such a successful and well received event every year."
The current estimated amount of food collected from all traveled routes is 5,000 pounds in Ingersoll and 21,000 pounds in Woodstock for a total of 26,000 pounds of food collected. President Porter addressed how effective this event has been over the past 10 years and how important the community is.
"The generosity from our communities is amazing and it is expected that the food raised will help keep our local food bank's shelves stocked up for many months to come. It has been 10 years since the inception of the REALTORS® Care Food Drive and it is estimated that over 192,000 pounds of food has been collected at this event for our local food banks."
The Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board would like to thank all the volunteers for taking time out of their day to make this event truly great and to reach that level of success. In addition to thanking volunteers Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board would like to thank their sponsors, Home Hardware Building Center in Woodstock, Giant Tiger, No Frills and Foodland in Ingersoll for their huge contributions.
If you placed a bag out that was not picked up or you still want to contribute, please take your donation directly to your local Salvation Army.
