The Woodstock Fire Department has some safety tips for families who decide to have a real Christmas tree this holiday season.
WOODSTOCK - December has arrived, so lots of families are now going out to get a real Christmas tree for the holidays.
According to the Christmas Tree Farmers of Ontario, there's a higher demand for real trees this year because younger families are choosing the real thing over the artificial alternative. This trend started during the pandemic because travel was limited so a lot of people decided to visit a local Christmas tree farm during the holidays.
The Woodstock Fire Department has some safety tips for families who decide to go with a real tree this year.
Make sure you pick a fresh tree. You'll know it's fresh when the needles don't easily fall off it when you touch it. You'll also want to water your tree daily.
Whether your tree is real or artificial, it should be at least three-feet away from any heat source without blocking any exists. You should also never leave the tree lights on overnight or while you're not home.
Whether you have an artificial/fresh 🎄 follow these ✔️for a fire safe holiday!
