The man accused in the Iron Grill explosion enters a surprise guilty plea Monday
WOODSTOCK - The two week Iron Grill explosion trial has been called off.
The jury trial for Arun Rajendiran was scheduled to start Monday, but instead jurors were sent home after the accused entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to commit arson.
His lawyers told the court that Rajendiran did plan to set the Dundas Street restaurant on fire in August of 2009 in order to collect $5000 in insurance money.
Rajendiran says he was cut from the deal just days before.
He is scheduled for sentencing in early September.
