One of the main goals of Connor's Quest is to get more signatures for their petition. The petition calls for harsher penalties for drug dealers, specifically with opioids. It will run from noon until midnight on July 20th.
WOODSTOCK - Connor's Quest and the fight against opioids is happening at the Moose Family Centre on July 20th.
The event is in memory of Connor MacKay who passed away three months ago. Connor's Aunt Crystal Mackay is the organizer of the event and says they are hoping to raise awareness.
"It is one of the worst things we have had to face, I guess with what happened, we just wanted to make the best of it, and hopefully prevent it from happening to someone else, we also wanted to raise awareness because it's becoming a crisis, or it already is a crisis."
MacKay says they will be having a lot of fun at the event, however they will also have some support there as well.
"Our plan is to have a lot of information tables set up, outlets for people to be able to go to, if they do have issues, outlining different rehabs and resrouces throughout the region."
They will be raising some money for charities like Wellkin, however they also want to have fun. The event will feature a BBQ, yard sale and all kinds of entertainment to keep you busy throughout the day.
It will run from noon until midnight on Friday July 20th.
