Bundle up, Oxford County. Public Health has issued its first cold weather alert of the winter season. Tonight's overnight temperature will drop to -14 with a windchill factor in the -22 to -25 range. That windchill factor will stick with us into Tuesday morning as parents and kids set off to work and school. The arctic air will be sticking with us for a few days, with high temperatures of -12 Tuesday, -10 Wednesday, and then up to -7 on Thursday. Overnight lows will dip down to around -14, according to Environment Canada. In a news release this afternoon, Public Health states "Over-exposure to cold may lead to complications such as frostbite, particularly in the extremities (finger and toes) or any exposed skin, and hypothermia, which occurs when body temperature drops below 35?C, affecting the ability to think clearly and move well. If you suspect hypothermia, call 911." Inn Out of the Cold offers shelter to homeless adults during the winter months between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. at Old St. Paul's Anglican Church, 723 Dundas Street, Woodstock.
